Terms of use
These terms govern your use of the Cortex web interface, a staking and inference protocol on Solana. Read them once, carefully: the protocol is designed around decay, locked stake and irreversible burns, and staking and claims are not open yet.
Acceptance
By loading this site, connecting a wallet or interacting with any part of the interface, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, close the tab. We may update these terms at any time; the effective date above changes when we do, and continued use after a change means you accept the changed terms. These terms apply to the current interface only.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally permitted to use cryptographic software in your jurisdiction. You confirm you are not a resident of, or accessing the site from, any jurisdiction where this site would be prohibited, and that you are not on any sanctions list maintained by the United Nations, the European Union or the United States. You are responsible for your own compliance. We do not gate access by geography on this site, which means the responsibility sits entirely with you.
Current status
The Cortex program is deployed on Solana, and staking and claims are not open yet. The site displays live Solana network data and a token audit index, and every on chain protocol value shows "-" until staking opens. No transaction is signed or broadcast by this site, no funds move, and nothing on this site is an offer, a solicitation, a commitment or a promise of any future token, airdrop, allocation or listing.
Mechanics described in the documentation, including emission rates, difficulty factors, escrow balances and decay, are design targets. They are not a projection of future value and they are not a representation that any of these mechanics will ship as shown. If the deployed program differs, and it may, the documentation does not bind it.
Protocol mechanics
The mechanics described in the documentation carry consequences that you should understand before interacting with the protocol:
- Decay. Unclaimed vouchers in escrow lose 500 bps (5%) at every 00:20 UTC cut. Vouchers already claimed to a wallet do not decay. This is a guaranteed haircut for anyone who does not claim daily, not a penalty for misuse.
- Keeper dependency. A permissionless keeper crank calls
settle_and_claimto roll the epoch. If no keeper runs, accruals pause and nothing settles. Keeper liveness is a dependency you carry, not a service we guarantee. - Burns are final.
burn_for_inferencedestroys vouchers to execute a model API call. A burn cannot be reversed, refunded or disputed, including when the call fails, the model returns unusable output or the gateway is degraded. - Authority parameters. Emission rates and difficulty factors are set by the protocol authority and can change. Projected yield is a projection, not a promise.
- Locked stake. SOL staked into a cluster is locked until unstake. There is no instant exit and no guarantee of exit liquidity.
No custody, no advice
We do not take custody of your funds. The interface never receives, holds or transmits your assets; your keys stay in your wallet and transactions are signed by you alone. You are solely responsible for securing your keys, your seed phrase and your device.
Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and no part of it is a recommendation to buy, sell, stake or hold anything. We provide no personalized guidance, no return expectations and no valuation opinion. Any decision you make is yours alone, made without reliance on anything here. Nothing here is financial advice.
Risks
You use this software at your own risk. The following are material and are not exhaustive:
- The program is unaudited. There is no audit, no bug bounty and no production history.
- Smart contract bugs can lose funds. Locked stake and escrowed vouchers are only as safe as code that has never run in production.
- Decay is a guaranteed haircut for anyone who does not claim daily.
- Keeper liveness can stall settlement for an epoch or indefinitely.
- Voucher value depends on API price feeds and gateway availability. A stale feed or an offline gateway can make vouchers worth less or nothing.
- Protocol authority can change emission and difficulty at any time.
- Regulatory treatment of staking, vouchers and burn mechanics is unsettled and can change to your detriment.
Intellectual property
The Cortex name, interface, code, documentation and branding are owned by Cortex Labs or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non exclusive, non transferable license to use the interface for its intended purpose. You may not copy the interface to build a confusingly similar product, scrape it to misrepresent protocol state, or use our name or branding to imply endorsement. Open source components remain under their own licenses.
Prohibited use
You may not use the interface to violate any law or the rights of others, including: interfering with or attempting to disrupt the site or any future protocol infrastructure; running a keeper crank in a way designed to front run or deny service to other miners; submitting fraudulent or automated inference requests; reverse engineering for the purpose of circumventing controls; misrepresenting displayed data as live protocol state; or using the site from a jurisdiction where it is prohibited. We may suspend or block access for violations, and we may report activity that appears unlawful to the relevant authorities.
Disclaimer of warranties
The interface is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults, and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non infringement. We do not warrant that the interface will be uninterrupted, accurate, timely, secure or error free, that displayed figures will match the deployed program, that the gateway will be available, or that defects will be corrected. The protocol is experimental software. Experimental software fails in experimental ways.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortex Labs and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost vouchers, lost stake, lost data or lost goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of the interface, even if advised of the possibility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted there. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may modify the interface, the documentation and these terms at any time. Material changes to the terms will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the changes, stop using the site. We may also discontinue the site entirely, without notice and without obligation.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction that Cortex Labs will fix. That jurisdiction has not been fixed yet. Until it is, disputes will be handled informally where possible and the placeholder stands: governing law will be fixed, and this page will be updated when it is. You agree to attempt good faith resolution of any dispute with us before pursuing formal action.
